THE PRACTICE.

To be good at anything you need to practice. A lot.

Practice is the one thing that separates good from great.

But how can you practice if you’re rarely in front of a camera, or in a casting room or being asked to send self-tapes? How do you get your 10,000 hours?

Of course you should be practising at home but we all know that but this gets lonely—and hard to structure and directionless.

THE PRACTICE puts you in an environment where you are exposed to the rigours of working on screen with a group of like minded peers out so you begin to master the work by doing it again and again.

This is where all the hard work and all your ‘breakthrough moments’ come to life as you practise your craft and you put it “into” your body by doing it again and again.

This is your “scales”.

HOW THE PRACTICE WORKS:

For 5 weeks for 3 hours you will work on sides from all TV and film genres.

Your preparation will be blown apart as you will be given a rigorous set of tools to implement into your work either to make self tapes, or put to work in the audition process or help you illuminate a role.

The Practice will help you prepare with accuracy and originality and also crack open the business side of the game.

You will be taught about how to use the space, the camera and how to take direction and to stand out using improvisations.

You will also very importantly learn the backend of the business not just who is who in a casting room, but how the process works from the birth of an idea- to it's final production and how you can be a part of this.

Through expose and coaching you will change your beliefs and build the muscles you need to act with freedom and courage. THE PRACTISE will help you deal with your anxiety and bad habits BEFORE you go for the job which as the least ideal place to solve problems.

You will also be taught the basics of SELF TAPING and so you can start a CLIP GALLERY which is an essential part of the actor’s toolkit in this DIGITAL AGE.

But most importantly you will PRACTISE because without implementation you have no craft.

THE PRACTICE will transform your acting process from being one of approval seeking, fear and even trauma—to one of empowerment, creativity and fun. It will give you the power, the tools and the discipline to have ownership of your work, the room, and the screen.

WHO AM I?

My name is Sancia Robinson and I'm a NIDA trained actor, a successful television producer, writer and acting teacher.

The interface between the business side of acting and the art side of acting has been where I have lived exclusively for the past 30 years- and this unique combination of experiences gives me a niche and lived understanding of what it takes to GET the job, as well as what it means to DO it and, most importantly, LOVE it.

I have worked on 'Neighbours', 'Spicks and Specks', 'Thank God You're Here', 'We Can Be Heroes' as well as groundbreaking documentaries like 'First Contact' and 'Luke Warm Sex' and had lead roles for Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company and Malthouse.
